Thu, 16 June 2005  Surfing Godfather Dale Velzy has died of cancer at the age of 77. He leaves a long legacy of firsts namely 1. First person to put a logo on a surfboard 2. First person to sponsor a surer and #3. First person to put a logo on a shirt. Basically he is responsible for the entire surf industry (sorry Hobie). Additionally another sad report on the passing of long time HB fixture; Mike Morgan. He recently left us at the tender age of 44. He was the Chick Hearn of surf announcing. He will be truly missed.
